We are about to start a 3 week unit of work writing our own warning stories. We will be using "Varjak Paw" by SF Said as our class reader during this time.Maybe you could borrow this book from your local library, down load it to your devices or buy the book to read as well as listening to Mr O and Mr W read it in class.
This last fortnight, the children have been taking a good look at their own background and history, and written some wonderful autobiographies. Thank you to all the parents and carers who helped dig out photos of the children throughout their lives. They really brought their writing to life. The children then used the skills they had learnt during the week writing autobiographies, to write about someone else; a loved one, a hero, a sports star or pop singer, even a fashion designer. Well done year 5 for showing some great research skills and writing some lovely pieces for a specific audience.

The children of year 5 recently explored the poem "The Door" by Miroslav Holub. You can watch Joseph Fiennes perform this by clicking on the link below. The children creatively investigated the poem, possible meanings, prominent imagery and key language. We have a fabulous fortnight familiarising ourselves with this Czech poet's work.
