Dear Parents & Carers,
Severe Weather Planning
I am writing to let you know how we are planning our response to possible severe weather conditions this week. As always, our priority is to remain open as normal, in all but the most exceptional of circumstances.
In the event of severe weather overnight, there will be a clear communication posted on the School website as soon as possible in the morning. This message will indicate whether the School will be open as normal.
What do I need to do in the event of a school closure?
Check the School website - in the unlikely event of a decision to close the School, we will do our very best to post a message on the website early in the morning.
We will send out a text via our text messaging service.
If the school is closed, this will also be posted on Dorset for You.
What do I need to do in the event of school remaining open during bad weather?
If the School does remain open, but conditions in your area make it unsafe for you to travel, please do keep your son or daughter at home, or delay your departure time, and let us know of your decision.
If we have severe snowfall in the daytime, we will do all that we can to continue with normal School until the end of the day.
In the very unlikely event that the School does have to close before the end of the normal School day, we would communicate this via a text message and through the website.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school office if you have any queries.
Snow closure: Day Two... 2nd March 2018
Dear Parents / Carers,
We are now into our second day of school closures and more snow expected across the region today.
Thank you for your patience and support during these difficult circumstances. Our aim has been to ensure you have been kept up to date as much as possible and we have really appreciated the many, many positive messages and feedback. Please continue to check your email, texts and the school website over the weekend for further information.
The photos of Wild Weather Extreme Reading have been fantastic - thank you to all of you that have sent in a contribution. You can see some of these on the homepage of the website, or on Twitter; just search for '@bsmprimaryhead'.
Aside from enjoying the opportunity for some snowman building, or some sledging, please also check out the school website class pages for further ideas to engage your children. These can be found at: http://www.blandfordstmary.dorset.sch.uk/class-pages/.
There are so many wonderful things you can do while the snow is with us and an abundance of ideas on the Internet!
The plan is for school to be reopened on Monday.
Until then, take care, keep warm and have fun!
The Staff at Blandford St Mary CE Primary School.
